The project relates to social work with children and adolescents and people with mental and physical disabilities. The project will involve volunteers from 9 different countries.


Volunteers will work with four different target groups according to their skills and interest:

1. Two volunteers will work in a project „THE OPEN COMMUNITY“. The volunteers help to integrate and assist mentally challenged and disabled people and their families. There are also educating and leisure activities.

2. Two volunteers will work in a "Day Centre for Children" from 6-11 years old, who live in very poor material conditions, have emotional and behavior problems, have learning problems, and need psychological help.

3. One volunteer will work with young people in a project "Teenagers" and will assist 3 different activities:

- a day group „TRANSITAS“;

- a teenagers group „THE SPRING-BOARD“

- Friday open space „SOFKĖ“.

These activities are offering assistance to young people (12 to 18 years old) from difficult social background. They have various difficulties at school, behavior and emotional problems, psychological and life crises.

4. Four volunteers will work in a day center for the children of the preschool age „BIČIULIAI“.


You can apply for different projects, but CV and motivation letter to each project should be separate.


The main tasks for the volunteer who will make his/her EVS with children or young people are:

  1. Helping with homework.

  2. Participating and helping to realize all the activities.

  3. Organizing / helping to organize/ organize day activities with local volunteers or workers.

  4. Participating in camps and hikes.

  5. Leading creative workshops for children (like handicrafts, theatre, sports, cooking, arts, teaching a foreign language, etc.)


The tasks for volunteer who will make his/her EVS with disabled people are:

  1. Helping to organize cultural events in the city and community together with young Lithuanian volunteers, with the aim to give people an opportunity to accept disabled people.

  2. Creating drama and/or music plays together with professionals and show them to the local community.

  3. Organizing different free time activities for the clients of the centres.

  4. Organizing various handicraft workshops for clients of day care center (candles, postcards, drawings, making things from wood, ecological workshops etc.).

  5. Taking care of garden together with disabled people.

  6. Assisting in making exhibitions of disable people in the local community.

  7. Organizing weekend trips for disabled children and clients of day care center together with Lithuanian volunteers.


The main tasks for the volunteer who will make his/her EVS with preschool age children:

  1. Looking after kids: helping them to get dressed, when going out – dressing up, helping to eat, or helping in other ways to little children.

  2. Playing with children. Games are the main form of learning, communicating and living for children, so it is very important to interact with them by playing.

  3. Creating and doing different art activities (drawing, music, theatre, etc.)

  4. Participating in the group activities with children. Encouraging them to communicate and to cooperate by the personal example.

  5. Participating in the planning meetings with the other volunteers as well as workers.

  6. Helping workers to prepare everything for activities, sleeping, eating, etc.


  • The volunteers should be motivated to work with target group which he or she chooses.
  • The most important is that the volunteer would not be afraid of the target group (f. e. youth with challenging behavior).

  • The volunteer should be at least 20 years (and not older than 30 years) for working with young people. It would be better if the volunteer already has some experience in working with young people. 

  • During project, all tasks will be discussed with volunteers and his mentor: the volunteer will be able to make his personal plan. Any initiative of volunteers will be encouraged and supported by the hosting organization. Also during the project, the volunteer will get support in working place by other workers.

Financial conditions

The project is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme. All expenses for visa, insurance, accommodation, food and international travel costs are fully covered. The volunteer will also receive pocket money every month.
